I need 2 rear deck inserts that the "Power by Ford" badge presses into.
Also 16 retaining clips that the 2 air intake grilles on the scuttle press into.

Hall don't stock them, do you know who does
please?

My rear deck struts (OE) are goosed, I know the subject has been beaten to death before but which are best for a wingless car/ best value too?

best Peter.

Wilkinson carries the clips for the front grills. This subject was discussed a little while ago. Some have used rubber grommets. I put the clips in and think I would go the grommet route if I did it again. Removing the grills is difficult and you risk breaking the prongs off of them. The grommets will be more forgiving.

Is that because of the grill openings resemblance to a ship's hatch OR due to the shape of the bonnet/windshield like a coal bucket?

You are correct and the word means all sorts too but in the UK it refers to the panel below the windscreen usually where the air intakes are situated.http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/scuttle-panel

My apologies for the confusion, Oh and the German Ship "The Graaf Spee" was also scuttled just outside of Montoivideo, I think!
