Personally, I fully respect our police officers and appreciate the work they do (nor would I want to do it).

But....I really hate it when they use their radar guns like is shown in that picture. Just last week, I am coming over a rise and as I crest the top of the hill I see a guy dressed all in black leaning against a telephone pole pointing a gun at me! I locked up the brakes and was ready to hit the deck. As I was rapidly slowing down (I was definitely NOT speeding) I realized that it was a cop so resumed my normal upright driving position. As I drove by he waggled his finger (not the middle one) at me, shook his head and said "Tsk Tsk". Frankly, I wanted to give him my middle finger but I had to go home and change my pants. I REALLY wish they wouldn't do this.
I was driving my old 88 Supra through a hick town in SC Fountian Inn to be exact. I had just left the business districk and looked ahead and there we 2 cops in the road pointing the "gun" at me. They bumbed into each other as they decided to get in the same car to chase me. I hurried to a stop in front of their car so they could not pull out behind me and let my passenger window down and asked "What are you going to do? Chase me?" Bastards gave me a ticket for 45 in a 35. Chicen sh#ts... Here is the real funny part. I went to their kangaroo court and there was a local homey who was caught with 2 different kinds of pot in his socks. The judge asked him....he said one was Hydro and the other was regular weed. Then the judge asked him if he mixed it together? he said "No, No ,, well " I guess you could!" The judge gave him a new idea and the courtroom broke out in laughter! It has become one of my new sayings.. "I guess you could!" Roll Eyes
Radar guns are a sore spot with me.

There was a time when they didn't have them. Here in California it was a ballot measure , voters actually voted yes to give the Highway Patrol radar guns.

Previous to radar guns they "patrolled", enforced law by being visible. Now they hide, use the radar gun and write tickets to generate revenues for the counties. What did voter's think would happen when they got the radar guns?

People don't even talk about speed traps any longer, they are so used to them, they don't recognize them as being illegal and immoral. Citizens think its normal for law enforcement to hide and catch the unsuspecting. They behave like a bunch of Banditos, hiding along highways to rob unwary travelers.

There was a time when citizens would not have tolerated this sort of police activity. Look at how the police state is growing, look at what we've become accustomed to.

I am hoping someday the public will vote to take the radar guns away from law enforcement, and get them back out on the road, visible, enforcing the law by their presence, and cut the link between speeding tickets and county revenue.

The latest and greatest way to generate revenue here in Texas is to use cameras at red lights to catch people running red lights. Now, I'm all for stopping those red light runners but using cameras to do it, well let's just say, it's like outsourcing jobs to someplace else. Now the cops don't even have to leave the donut shop to meet their quotas.
