My outside mirrors are loose where the adjustment ball fits into the socket of the mirror body. They won't hold their position. Don't want to replace mirrors because I spent big money rechroming and new mirror glass. I tried products on the ball to build it up but no luck. No adjustment screw on outside to tighten mirror body. Any ideas? Thanks, Fred

Try putting a drop of Blue Locktite on the ball, then adjust the mirrors to their ideal position and let set so the Loctite can set-up or dry. This should hold them.

The mirrors on my Cutlass were very tight and difficult to adjust and I made the mistake of spraying the balls with some WD40 and working the mirrors, after which they would not hold their position. I first tried spraying some brake cleaner in the ball (carefully covered the car to protect the paint) to clean out the lubricant, then sprinkled some fine dirt/dust on the ball and tried to work that back into the mirror so things wouldn't be so loose. Blue Loctite was the only thing that held the mirror.
