ok, here goes. I've probably spent over 300.00 on various mirrors and have yet to find what I really want. I prefer to not drill holes in the door (new paint), mounting to a sheet metal plate sipped under the 1/4 window moulding seems a good method and I have no problem mounting that way. But finding the right looking mirror is the problem. I don't want too large or too small to see. Any ideas? Come on you geniuses, surely you have an opinion!

Glenn,

After getting my car re painted 10 + years ago I thought I wanted a mirror other than the Ford factory style. I looked at all of the options from K car mirrors mounted on the glass, to many nice euro offerings.

However, after much deliberation I went back with NOS Ford mirrors. Not fancy but they are period correct and just look right on the Pantera to me.

Good Luck.

Jeff
I personally like the Vitaloni Baby Turbos.
They were the factory mirrors for awhile on the '80s GT5s.
You can still find some NOS for sale occassionally.
They do mount onto the door skins so you need to make some holes.
I think that the reason they were picked is that they are almost infinately adjustable. They look like little robot arms. They project far enough out to see around a wide body car. They minimize the blocked view to the side of the car.
I suppose it depends on whether you like the retro or the high tech look.

Glenn,

I too looked around and opted for the Vitaloni Baby Turbos, which can be picked up on eBay for a good price.

However as I didn't want to drill further holes in the doors I opted to glass mount them. This was acheived by simply cutting and drilling some sheet metal for the mirror to screw to and powder coating it. The 'pie' shaped pieces just push down behind the quarter glass rubber and I never even had to glue them.

Vitaloni Concept V, available with convex glass, available new for about $80 each, very light weight. Not too big, not too small, decent size glass for functionality.

I bought them for my Pantera, but I haven't installed them yet, I've been a bit busy lately. I plan to mount them to the side glass, like Julian.
