This is NOT another who makes the best oil thread. It is a heads up for anyone looking for a great buy on Mobil 1. Typically twice a year Mobil runs a rebate special for 5 qts of Mobil 1. The rebate is up to $17 if you use a Mobil 1 filter. Here in Atlanta, Advance Auto parts often runs a special at $29.99. So it is $12.99 with a very high quality
“ MADE IN THE USA” filter. I can’t even do a generic brand Dino oil for that price.

Here is the link to the Mobil site. You can do it all on line and it comes to you in a check form in about 4 weeks.

I saw an ad yesterday for Mobile's (new?) "annual protection" Mobile-1 so I checked into prices today. The oil sounded quite interesting (good for 20K miles!) so I checked it out:

Probably not of interest for most Pantera's but maybe for your daily drivers. Anyway, their website showed 2 local retailers: Walmart and Pep Boys. Walmart had the best price: 5qt for the annual protection at $39.84. Their regular M-1 is $25.47/5qt and the extended performance (15 K miles) is $28.68. Walmart is not on Mobile's list for "Participating Retailers".

Turns out the local O'Reilly's and all the other local autoparts chains are not on their retailers list either. Target is, but they only sell regular M-1 in the qt size that comes out to $39.45 for 5qt.

I usually buy M-1 at CostCo when it's on sale. They will have a $10 instant savings from 4/16 - 4/29. Their regular M-1 price is $37/6qt (which = 30.83/5qt) so $10 off of that is still the best price, but their selection of weights is usually pretty limited.

As a final price check I checked Amazon's price. The M-1AP is not available there yet. Their price is $25.48/5qt (same as Walmart) but only $24.98/5qt for the Extended Performance (makes no sense unless they are closing it out). Also, with Prime I can get "FREE One-Day" shipping.
