Mounting wing

I just purchased a used rear wing and I can not figure out how it attaches. It came with 2 metal bars which goes under the rear hatch, however they are 2 feet long and a little over 1 inch wide. On one end they have mounting holes which are the same as the wing. On the other end they are just steel bars. I'm assuming they butt against the end of the hatch to properly position the wing. But my rear hatch is off the car (and put away) until I get my engine back from the shop. Can anyone confirm if this is correct. I did search the site without finding specific info. Thanks in advance.
