Update: After speaking to Tara at Hall Pantera, looking at some photos and comparing inlet shapes and diameters with Big Bores, it is quite obvious that these are NOT Big Bores. They are Mind Trains with bigger diameter inlets and exhaust pipes. They have a very deep aggressive sound but , they have become much louder over time. I want to lower the sound level a bit with some type of silencer inserts. Does anyone know where I can buy them?
Thanks
Shah
I have the same setup on my 71 and always thought they were big bores. They are extremely loud, much louder than the GTS setup on my 72. The drone gets really tiring on a long trip. They apparently have little or no baffling as I was stop light to stop light racing a Mustang one night and when he caught up with me at a red light he motioned for me to roll down my window and said flames were shooting out my exhaust pipes a couple feet when I shifted or decelerated. He thought it was pretty cool but I think it means there's no baffling in the mufflers and I’m running the carb to rich. If you drive the car on long trips I think you'll be happier with a quieter set up.
Fred Matsumoto referred to his Mind Train exhaust system as the Big Throat system. Both the Mind Train Big Throat system and the Hall Pantera Big Bore system get louder over time as carbon & oil fills or coats the glass packs.

The only way to restore quieter operation is to find a suitable replacement bullet style mini-glass pack and weld four of them in.
