It should resemble an updated Pantera. The original M-1 had a lot of Pantera DNA in it. If only this car had a Ford V-8. If you have ever seen a Pantera next to an M-1, you would be shocked at how similar they are.

I'm with you, when I received the magazine I thought the same thing. Actually it looks a lot like a Pantera especially from the rear 3/4 and the back. Looks amazing, this I would wanna buy.
I like the M1. I actually looked into buying one but couldn't find the right one. The first thing on my 'to do' list would've been to yank out that anemic 277hp straight 6 and put in a V12. They're the same length with twice the cylinders!
I think they only made around 400 M1s. If I remember correctly, BMW contracted Lamborghini to build the M1 for them.

Okay, it wins in interior comfort and overall sophistication.
But funny how 30 years later and with pretty much unlimited resources and leading German designers it still doesn't look better than the lo tech original.
And I'm sure it is no match in passion or performance.
