Just wanted to introduce myself. I don't own a Pantera yet but will in less then 2 years. I like the black one for sale on the cars for sale page. If it don't sell before I'm ready I think I got my eye on it.

But for now I got plenty of toys so no hurry. Besides I would like ot learn a little more about these from the message board before I jump in head first.

I do wonder though... I have never seen a pantera at the race track or autox. Just wondering how capable they are. The suspension looks like it's done proper but looks don't mean much I guess.

Anyways Hi ALL!!!

Welcome to the board. I don't know what other toys you have, but you'll find a great bunch of people here to support you every step of the way. There are some excellent websites dedicated to the Pantera. The PanteraPlace is a great place to start. It's recognized as one of the leading sites for information regarding the car. There is also a de Tomaso BB which includes many of the members here. You'll be happy to know there are several owners in the NY area.
Thanks

Yeah I considered getting one but I have wanted a 914-6 since I was like 5 years old. So I just wanted to live that childhood fantasy first

But yeah I think it's better to learn to drive a 250hp around the track before trying to do the same with a 500 hp monster.

I used to see a guy in the NY area with a pantera but this is going back many years. I guess since we don't have the most classic car friendly weather we don't get to see the classic cars as much.

Turboman!
I agree with LPB, skip the 914 and get into a Pantera, I know it's got heaps of horse power,
but think of how quickly and I mean quickly you will pick things up....

If your purpose is to learn how to become a good driver on road racing courses, then a momentum car like the 914, RX-7, or Miata are the best. When you can be fast in a car with 100-150 horsepower and actually learn how to drive a car on the race track, then later when you drive a horsepower car, you will be very fast! But I have to say that there is nothing like a Pantera on the Track!!!
Thanks for the replies everyone.

I already bought the 914 and it's actualy more then I can handle at the moment. It's got 250hp so it's pretty powerful for a 914. But yeah I will get better at driving it.

I do kinda wish in a way that I went ahead and bought one. I do some work for these guys with lambos and ferraris and I would like to be able to kick there asses. But they only do punk ass highway runs. HAHA
Hello again. Still no Pantera in my stable. I think I am going to buy one with the new year.

For now I got a 914-6 for the weekend racing and solstice gxp for daily use.

Think I will be looking to buy something a bit over the top capable of 200mph.

BUt yeah I have narrowed it down to a Pantera, Cav GT or Ultima Can Am
