The issues on a bargan car, especially a Pantera, are the costs of parts and labor to "restore" it.
A Pantera isn't in the Mustang catagory as far as parts prices are.
Go to one of the Pantera vendor web pages and look at the prices of parts you are likely to need.
Wilkinson lists a front deck lid in the $4000 range.
Look at the price of fenders. Some parts are no longer available.
The only thing "reasonably" priced is the engine.
There doesn't seem to be anything that is easy to work on on the car either. Time is at least x 1-1/2 if not x 2 or more the normal times.
The Pantera is a true exotic with true exotic prices.

If the top of that shock tower is rusted through, you'll want to make sure the rest of the Pantera chassis structure is sound. If it's not, this would be the only deterrant to buying the car. Check out Johnny Woods' restoration to see just how involved Pantera rust can be:

Lastly, nearly every part is available for the Pantera. It's not made of "unobtanium" like some of it's cousins!

thanks guys,you have a super site here,very,very helpful members,i'v known this car for 25yrs.its been in storage last 5 or 6 yrs,super price,finally in the right place at the right time,like i said this will be my first exoctic,have had 5/6 boss 302 from concorse to theft recovery,my goal now is to save these car's from the crusher,i bought my last boss with a tree growning up threw the engine compartment,its now lic,ins and driven(gave it to my daghter for x-mas)currently working on a plain jane 69 cougar r-code 428cj ram air,hopefully will have pantera by end of week,every thing is there,so will see.thanks agene to some great guys and a great site.les

Must be original paint would anybody repaint a Pantera car that color

it was called kermit hte frog green,i like to think of it as lime green metalic,my 1st brand new car was limegreen metalic 70'mach 1 mustang,paid 3300. for it 3 mo.later and old farmer pulled out in front of me at 65mph,got a scratch on my knee and busted out the windshield were the roof meets the windshiels,i think thats what knocked me out did 2800.in damage,pust the front end in 2 1//2-3ft.swang around and slaped him with driver side rear qter.hood never found sailed into corn field,and he walked away,who says fords arn't built ford tough.

rust to us wiscsinites is a fact of living here,they pour more salt on the roads then anywhere i've seen,counties have been sued for lack of salt on there roads,rust is like standard equipment you just deal with it.we have many pro-rust repair specialists.fact of life here,les.

Les, take lots of pictures of the repair process. And make sure to post it here so in the future when the subject comes up again, we can tell the newb to go to your thread because it is the final word on the subject.

You might want to consider rebuilding the rear in the configuration of the GT5's with the boxed out inner fenders.
If that was my car, I'd consider that at this point.

hey,i'm not ready to give up yet,from what the genral sences is,it'd be a challenge,may be a big challenge,but that's what i want something to challenge me.the justifcation comes when driving it down the street or interstate the waves and looks on people's faces,that to me is the true mark of a job well done,and the one's with the video's and camera's if they can get a shot of me passing at 200 mph.it'll do 160 road america,i'm up to it with plenty of help and support.thanks,guys keep the comments coming,les.
