Les, You got your work cut out for you. You are going to want to build a jig for that car before you weaken it too much by cutting away rust. You should check out Johnny Woods, and his site. Johnny has done amazing things with a rusty car. He can give you better advise than me. I'll see if I can get you two together. I would definatly look real hard and have a plan together before I started removing parts.
we've done patch work before,we cut the replacement metal first, after squaring off what being removed,as soon as that done in about a 1/2 hrs.the new patch is welded in.time of coruse depends on how much to be remove,my brother is ouite knowledgble in this area construction differan kind of steel structers, the owner claims there is only one othe rust hole needin to be patched,he said the hard part is getting the undercoating off around the edge of the new hole, when complete i'll have a new coat of a special under coating(its like a black wrinkle when sprayed on,and cover the whole engine compartment agene, right over the top of the old under coating, that way it we'll all look the same.i belive i'm ready for this project, owner said you should find no surprizes, les.
