Ok here goes,I have always dreamed of owning a Pantera but thought I could never could afford one.I saw a car priced at 16000 on the cars for sale on this forum here.My Question is ,am I out of my mind to take on a project like this?I not really looking to make money on it but rather to be able to enjoy the car. This perticular car needs ALOT of work. When is a rusted car not considered repairable?Need some advise from real Pantera owners!!!

lloyd, at the risk of discouraging you a little, a driveable Pantera thats safe to operate on todays rosds will usually cost a minimum of $20K. That means a car that starts well, doesn't overheat, has tires rated as 'safe to operate' within the Pantera's speed range and can pass smog tests (if req'd in your area). So on average, a $16K car will need maybe $4K of instant upgrades to pass most/all the above. I suggest you join a Pantera Club and begin hanging out with the local members on their events. A Pantera is NOT necessary to do this, and you will gain valuable knowlege before you jump in the deep end... Many local guys are experts on available cars and can steer you to a car that meets your needs, even to the extent of taking a day off work to go with you to look at a prospect, showing you the weak spots etc. And the tech tips in the national magazines are invaluable, sources for mauals etc are listed and advice on the Pantera Parts vendors will all save you money and heartache.
Lloyd. If you are serious about owning a Pantera, this is the place. There isn't a day that goes by, that I don't read every Topic. The ones's that I feel will be of use, and most are, I print out and file. I now have a nice book, from Body questions to Drive Train. The People who use this forum can and will give you the best advice. I have owned my Pantera for 8 years, and each time I work on it, it is an ADVENTURE.
Take your time, and best of Luck.
Karl
