I have been rebuilding my 72 Pantera. It had been apart for 3 years this month. As I got it together and started the engine and warmed it up for 25-30 min. I began listening for any "tell-tale" noises anywhere. I heard an occasional rotational noise in the trans as if a washer was being picked up from the bottom an being thrown up toward the top of the gear box. It is a very slight but distinguishable noise. I also thought that maybe since it had sat for 3 years in my garage some seals were not lubricated or a top gear set was dry and put in a bind of some kind. I did not hear the noise at first, but only after warming up. I did check the fluid and it was almost dry. I have refilled, however have not restarted the engine until I can find out if it is safe or not. Do not need any ZF problems at this point. Can you give me some direction. Thanks.
