Doug, this is a quote from your last post on the A3 head topic in the Engine Forum:

Along with the aluminum hubbed XE balancer, aluminum MR C6FE-B heads and the 67 Fairlane 427 cast iron exhaust manifolds. None of which are particularly special or desireable for performance or even dependabilaty. There are MUCH better aftermarket parts available. Needless to say they are hardly worthless.

I would normally interpret a post like that to indicate a person is upset about something. Hard to be sure however, because I'm not completely familiar with your unusual sense of humor yet.

It should be possible for two people to disagree about a subject or issue without conflict. In this case I assume the subject is the perceived value of the A331 intake, the A3 heads or both. In disagreeing with you I certainly meant no disrespect or to make you look ignorant, or anything of that nature. But when communicating with the written word, misunderstandings do from time to time occur. Perhaps the manner in which I wrote my disagreement rubbed you the wrong way.

Dave Adler and I both feel strongly that this Bulletin Board shall not be a venue for the ego clashes that other Pantera forums are plagued by. The DTBB is a place where participants can expect to be approached with respect by the other members.

In that spirit I wish to offer you my apology if I have in some way offended or disrespected you.

George, I am in no way upset. I agree with you 100% that the A331 (torker) isn't particularly special. I do mean that. It is for all intents and purposes just an Edelbrock Torker to fit the A3 heads. I am mearly trying to point out that there are many Ford parts that over the years fall into that catagory and have become very desireable. A lot of Pantera owners are really dyed in the Ford Blue and already understood this stuff without me saying it. Beauty to a great extent is in the eye of the beholder. It really isn't anymore beautiful to me then you. I was mearly attempting to pass along what I have learned, rightly or wrongly to others who I thought might have the same interests and are newer to the game.
As I have told my children and other grasshoppers, 1)it is alright to use me as a negative barometer 2)all this grey hair counts for something... but at least I have hair! (much too much actually).
Seriously though, I answer questions as I do because these are the type of answers I wanted to know about these things when I was a kid and couldn't get an answer to no way, no how. Sometimes I do goof on people because I know they are taking things too seriously. I think you are suspecting tone when none is intended.
In just the few days that I have been a member here, I fixed two problems on the Pantera that I couldn't find and I got thousands of dollars worth of technical information from people who are equally fixated on technical matters.
Some people still ask the question, why is the sky blue? I already learned that years ago, because Ford made it. I ask more specific questions such as if it was made in Australia, why is it marked Cleveland? For that I'm a rebel, but a rebel with a cause.
Don't ask me what cause, 'cause I don't know.
Now aren't you glad you asked? What was it you asked, I forgot?
Doug,

I felt it better to not leave things unspoken, "just in case". You know, I don't want you to harbor perceived personal insult, because keeping stuff quiet like that will only allow it to get worse with time. Like I wrote, I don't know you that well "yet". Today is a learning experience, right!? I felt it was better to play it safe & apologize, even if an apology was not necessary, than to not apologize, when it was.

For future reference to everyone on the DTBB, I am always willing to accept constructive criticism, or to be told when I'm wrong. I'm always open for somebody to say, hey George, I didn't like what you said. I do make errors from time to time. And I'm willing to apologize, because I never intend to insult or disrespect anybody. I am here to learn as much as everyone else, and to help when I can.

My blood runs Ford blue as much as anybody's.

I am encouraged that the DTBB has helped you to quickly resolve 2 problems that other technical advisors had not been able to help you with, that is BITCHEN!

Like I always write, the DTBB is the "hip" place for Pantera info.

Your FRIEND on the DTBB, George
No appologies are necessary to me. You shouldn't even think that. Sometimes I get misunderstood. My world can be very intense sometimes and I have the tendancy to pass it along without realizing it. I appologize to you and everyone on the Forum if you all think that. That is certainly not my purpose. I just need to take my kava-kava. Ah, I feel better now.
Remember what Cmdr.Scott said? "You remind me of the man who demands to be taught the wisdom of the world while standing on one foot". Well I have to do that every day. That's normal for me. New Yorkers aren't all bad. You have to experience what "a New York minute" is and maybe you would begin to understand. One of them can be an entire life for some people.
I don't need to burn you, I need you on my side. Thanks for your concern.
