One of the things about the Pantera that I've seen mentioned numerous times is it's ability to set off car alarms as it rumbles by. Well, my car has disappointed me in that capacity as I have not heard a single alarm go off as I drive down the street.

Well, today I got a call from a buddy of mine - who tells me he knows I'm coming to visit before I've even turned onto his street - he'd been talking to one of our fellow car enthusiasts the other day who owns a number of vettes, and the guy was saying that everytime I drive by the alarms on his cars (in the garage) and house would all go off.

So, now , I'm happy! burn rubber

Hey Robert,
I can appreciate that, concrete garages, underpasses etc. really multiply the sound!

All in all, I don't think my car is that loud, and I'm not out to rattle plates off of peoples walls, but if it had to be a particular brand of car, I think Alejandro and the folks at Ford would have been happy to know it was vettes that were ruffled - BTW vette guy is cool, he was relaying the news in good humor.

The nice thing is my neighbors still like the sound ... it brings them out when she fires up on a Saturday afternoon, and after a long quiet winter, they are already asking when I'll be getting her out of storage for the 2010 season.

The first time I ever took my car out on the town, I remembered the first car alarm I ever set off was a black Corvette that I found parked next to me in the parking garage after leaving a club.

I saw water puddle under the 'vette and I thought to myself, 'the car must have pissed on itself shaking, after being parked next to my car' (I know, I know....it was just condensation from the a/c system but hey... it's me thinking to myself). The last straw was my car starting up next it. The 'vette couldn't take it anymore and set it over the edge (the car alarm went off) Smiler Heh heh hehhhh...

Come on, I was only 20 then.
