75W80 is just fine. Back in the '60s when the ZF was created, multiviscosity gear lubes apparently didn't exist. The only thing you might consider is, the Zf has a clutch-type limited-slip similar to a GM Positraction� differential, so many ZFs can profitsably use posi-type gear lube. The only effect is to prevent the annoying stick-slip- action when rounding sharp corners. If your car jerks going around curves, the posi-type lube will help. If it doesn't, no harm is done by running it, and last time I looked, the cost was the same making it cheap insurance.
