I had a hard time finding 80 weight oil.
My performance shop sold me some red line 75w80...is this OK?

75W80 is just fine. Back in the '60s when the ZF was created, multiviscosity gear lubes apparently didn't exist. The only thing you might consider is, the Zf has a clutch-type limited-slip similar to a GM Positraction� differential, so many ZFs can profitsably use posi-type gear lube. The only effect is to prevent the annoying stick-slip- action when rounding sharp corners. If your car jerks going around curves, the posi-type lube will help. If it doesn't, no harm is done by running it, and last time I looked, the cost was the same making it cheap insurance.
Butfoy recommended Castrol 80/90W Hypoy C. I have religiously used it. Tried Valvoline once, noticible difference. Use Castrol!

Butfoy told me to exclusively use Castrol 80/90W Hypoy C gear oil. I have and ZF has performed perfectly. I would not deviate to 75/80.
