Does anyone on the forum have any tips on installing an oil pan on the Pantera engine with the engine in place in the car? I don't have a lift so I must do this with my car jacked up as high as I can get it on stands, laying under the car on a roller creeper. The pan is an Aviaid pan so it is bigger than stock too. I have the cooling system drained, the starter out of the way, the shift linkage support loose and the rear frame support removed. I am worried about getting the pan up into position without distrubing the gaskets and seals. Thanks.

You may need to remove a small amount of metal (maybe 1/4") in the windage tray where the oil pickup goes through just to give enough room to wiggle it into place. You will also want to throroughly clean the chassis rails and surrounding area so that you don't knock a load of gunk and crap into the pan whilst jiggling it up there. I would also stick the gaskets on the block with RTV first.

It's not easy nor plainly evident whilst lying on your back, but it can be done.

God luck,
Julian
