old brake pads

I heard a squeek from my brakes, so I inspected the right rear where I installed 2 used pads. There is a spotty coating on the rotor, the others are shiny. Could my pads have absorbed something over time? The wheel turns ok and the brake caliper squeezes the rotor ok on the jack stand. I have to add that this is the rotor that I had turned abot 200 miles ago.

shoot it all with brake cleaner, very liberally

Brake pads love to soak up oils and solvents and then leak it back out onto your disks when they get warm.

So if the problem reoccurs after a good clean you may have to replace the pads.
