Got to agree with Doug, if I could only have one vehicle, it would have to be the pickup truck. It can do anything, pull trailers, haul stuff, commuting, long trips. It is really comfortable too.
Now if I could only have one toy, tough. The 240Z is a little less over the top than Miss P for daily use in town and on two lanes, but the Pantera feels much safer at the interstate speeds around here.

My close pantera buddies know my answer to this one ... From my mazda 5, ford focus titanium, 2000 celica, scion FR-S, I would keep my 74 Pantera and take the freeking bus with my mattress if I have to any time. The Pantera stays and the rest out the window.

I agree I love my Pantera but I couldn't destroy it for my personal gratification. It's like a pretty girl that I can't afford Sympathy
I assume that Mikael means which of our “old” cars we would choose if we had to use it as our daily driver. I’m with him and would absolutely pick the Longchamp. Roomy, zoomy, has a huge trunk and it’s easy to get in and out of. Heck, it it’s probably pretty good in the snow too, but it would kill me to see it get destroyed by salt & rust.

BUT, if someone told me I could only keep a single car, and I still lived where I do, it would be my Touareg. Fast, comfortable, spacious, loaded with everything you could want, extremely reliable, reasonably economical, fantastic towing capacity and it is awesome in the snow.

Hello Mark; Boy I would have lost that bet!!!...Was SHOCKED to see your Touareg towing a FULL sized car hauler & your Superperformance...So I googled the towing capacity of a 2014 Touareg with the "Special Towing Package"...7,700lbs!!!...WOW!!!...Mark

Well Mikael,

Asking people to choose which of their children they prefer is a little strong. Although my Panteras are, unlike the rest of my life, a journey exclusively for my own pleasure, I will be happy to place my finished product beside yours so that we may find out which one the 3 yr olds, 23 yrs olds, 43 yr olds and 63 year olds might prefer.

That's probably where we are most different you and I (and I know I'm probably the minority among Pantera owners), I don't care what other people think of my car. That was important to me when I was younger, and getting a trophy at a car show was a great joy for me. Not any more. I guess I've taken the below wisdow to heart:
When you're young you worry about what other people think of you. As you get to middle age you care less about what people think of you. When you get older you realize that people don't think about you that much anyway... Wink
I love this board. It gives me the opportunity to learn so much and occasionally help others.

I sometimes share what I do as I have so many friends here, many of which I will likely never meet.

Mikael, you and I are are not different. I was simply offended by your comment in the other post and usually respond poorly to attacks of any kind.

Sorry George. We're done.

I know that feeling.

Wisdom here too.

It's a total hoot. By far the most exciting car I've owned.

I feel your pain... My pantera has spent more time apart than together the last couple months.
Gosh, tough question! I do think about this sometimes though.

If I had to pick a current car for ALL things, it'd have to be the Audi R8. Fast, comfortable, safe, decently efficient, reliable, sturdy... all those things.

No, I can't tow my boat with it or haul lumber, but I guess I'd take the dough from NOT having the other cars and pay for delivery.

I would keep my Pantera and walk/bike/train anywhere it wouldn't go!

I would have to agree! A few years ago when updating our insurance coverage on all the collectible cars my wife realized we had a pretty valuable stash of cars and asked me "is there anything else newer or nicer I'd rather have if I were to sell the current collection?" That was right before going to Monterey for the Historic Races (er, Motorsports Reunion) so I was looking at everything and continually asked myself the same question - "would I rather have one of those instead of what I have now?" After some consideration, and another drive in my Pantera I came to the solid conclusion that I would keep the Pantera. Although, my 66 GT Mustang was my first car and I vowed I'd never sell it when I bought it, so it would be hard to part with that one. Let's hope I never have to make that choice...
I think my Pantera would go before the Mustang....
