Outer rocker replacement

I've heard the same comment from a friend who fixed his own rusty car. The rocker panels on a Pantera are three-piece: an inner, an outer and a center piece, all welded into a triangular assembly with a vertical center divider. As-stock, I believe the assembly has a slight convex curvature as well, since its well-known that Panteras don't have a truly straight panel on the whole car! To ensure enough material, the replacement parts are intentionally made larger than necessary, so they are far from drop-in replacements. In my friend's case, he returned the panels to the vendor, then simply bought sheet steel and using 2x6 wood & c- clamps for a jig, bent his own panels, possibly to his own design. But then, he's a highly skilled body & engine man with 40 yrs of experience on all manner of autos! Probably depends on what you need to cut away, how much of the original panels are left and how skilled you or your shop is at complex body-work.

there is some one that makes stainless steel replacement rockers that solve the rust problems would have to be tig welded
