Pantera #3246 - "72" GT5 convertion

I was watching it when it was on Ebay several weeks ago. It generated a little interest but I believe the reserve is not in line with the value of the Ebayers.

It was part of a previous thread also but I can't find it now. Seems the wheel offset brought up some issues and questions on the car.

Is there a technical forum that describes what kind of issues wheel offset can bring up?

Most of us just thought the wheels were tucked up under the body kind of far when seen from the front or the rear. Maybe the fenders are too wide

Should be a simple fix new wheels less backspacing.

Yes I saw the other thread but couldn't find it either. Does anyone know what the reserve was set at or what they were asking for the car locally?

Bidding got to $37,600 on 11 bids without meeting the reserve.

Wheel offset doesn't cause any performance issues just looks weird and means that you will have to replace the rims in order to get "the look".

Or you can replace the wheel studs with the longer GT5 ones and use wheel spacers to bring the wheels out.

In this case though, it looks to me that the car retains narrow body wheel widths, which indeed would mean new rims. However, looking at the rear stance the car is either very low or more possibly the flares were placed low on the body. Thus, to widen the track and/or to get the correct 13" wide wheels under the flares without serious scrubbing would be a challenge, without raising the rear end that is.

The reserve was at least 45K. Figure on changing the rims/tires for about $4000.00 if that's all there is to this car.

I was seriously considering this vehicle but my gut just said to leave it alone. Something just doesn't seem right about it.

Overall, other than some odd choices in the rather weathered interior, the car looks nice enough. The one thing I find very disconcerting is that the passenegr side rear wheel looks like it's 2 or 3 inches inboard compared to the drivers-side. That may just be the angle of the photos, but if not, it ain't going to be fixed by new wheels and it ain't going to be a cheap fix either.

It is the angle at which the picture was taken. The photographer was stading right of dead center. You can tell by the rear flares.

The picture that had me questioning the wheels is the one on the far left bottom.

Plex, I was comparing the two angled shots below. Yes, this is exaggerated by the camera angle, but it seems too uneven. The rest of the car looks so good, it's hard to imagine that they would miss something so big.
