Well, after all of the voting and judging was over in the Auto Show's Muscle Car Matchup, Dave C's Car was among those invited to be at the show.

It was looking like I might miss the show, but with a bit of luck, I made it there on Wednesday. Luck continued and I started the day in the room where Dave's Pantera was on display (as opposed to dragging myself into the room at the end of the day after walking through all of the dealer exhibits (cookie cutter cars) and vendors ($5 for a small coffee!!!)).

The room with Dave's car was nicely laid out with the winning cars safely displayed behind ropes - along with various antiques around the room to set the tone for these classics (old road signs and street lights, a jukebox, a gas pump etc.).

Standing back to watch the room for a bit, the Pantera and the silver Corvette drew a lot of attention as people browsed the room. The F40 was also getting plenty of looks. All in all, the cars on display were nicely polished and showed well with the black curtains as background.

Congratulations again Dave for a good showing of the Marque!

Dunno whether it was just what was on hand, or if the designers really expected this car to fly, but the big dial in the middle of the dash is an altimeter

At the back of the car are panels covering the fuel caps, one for gas, the other for alcohol (methanol) - so NO, the Alcohol Level gauge is not an early attempt at a breathalyzer/alcohol ignition interlock - but how forward looking would that have been! Wink

There were plenty of other cars worth seeing, Ford GTs, Maseratis, Lambos, Ferraris, McLarens etc. And then the standard offerings from Ford/GM/Kia/Porsche/Mercedes/Land Rover/Toyota and so forth.

In the ugly department, there were some prototypes there which are trying hard to wrest the "ugliest car" crown from the Pontiac Aztec, and I think some of them will easily succeed. Who thought the world needs a 'car' that appears to have been designed by a child who sneezed while trying to draw a rectangle and then marketing tried to fix it with gull wing doors and a flight of stairs leading into it? Although when I'm pushing 90 I may be glad of a few steps to help me get into anything higher than a Pantera (or maybe 70 or even 60 on a bad day) Smiler

Good point! Maybe in 60 years the Gull-Wing SUV will be deemed beautiful - or it will be condemned for the number of people who proudly drove home from the dealership to the underground of their Park Avenue condos and couldn't open the doors to get out Wink
Yes they are wonderful pictures, when spaceship cars were the dogs, I loved the Chevrolet impala
its shape was just stunning.

Car design Now is pretty bland though, none more so than Mr Porsche's design house, god its been so boring for so long, with apologies to the Porsche owners etc . Surely they can do better.
Italy still rules, they have the most imaginative pencil.

I'm leaning towards condemned. Wink

Yes, Porsche is up there with the Japanese car companies for making boring cars. They maybe extremely fast at the track and on the road but you barely look twice when you see one on the streets.
