Mark,

The old - first - registry is still available. The second is not yet a finished project. You can buy the first for $21. Send to Bill Van Ess - 6780 Kitson N.E. - Rockford, MI

The second is being compiled by Bill Milburn. These are both in the POCA monthly newsletter - you DO belong to POCA and PI, right? ;-)

Thanks for the info Larry,

I went with the group that had the flashier magazine and the better website. Did I make the wrong choice? :-)

It's kind of expensive to join clubs when you're in Canada (pay more and use smaller dollars...) and there are no other members within 300 miles. Web and mags are it. You guys in California get year 'round driving pleasure, we get 6 months to read, tune and repair. As I type it's 30 degrees BELOW zero (celsius) outside.
Hey Mark,
I know what you're saying about the cold Eeker & completely understand... I was born & raised in Ottawa (Nepean & Kanata)! The cold & snow is the main overwhelming reason I moved California 8 years ago.
In the 30 some years I lived in Ottawa, I never saw a Pantera there. Are there any others? Where did you find yours? I imagine there is a story to all of this.

Hey GR8KAT,

Nice to have a sympathizer! I have a buddy who left for Palo Alto about 10 years ago and doesn't seem to regret it much either!

The first car that ever made me stop cold was a red Pantera I saw in a hotel parking lot in Pennsylvania in 1971. I was 11, and that started my obsession with cars. Last year I spent quite a while deciding that I needed to start enjoying things more and needed a hobby car. Thanks to Mile Daileys panteraplace.com and this forum, I decided a Pantera was the right car for me—simple, exotic, rare and affordable. My wife (who also loves cars) agreed and I started to look. Two days later I saw a listing in the PI For Sale forums for my car. I contacted the seller in Toronto and drove down to see it early that Saturday morning. I spent 2 and a half hours inspecting the car, twenty minutes driving it and 2 minutes negotiating the price. I had pre-arranged a draft at a nearby bank, paid the seller (a great guy who loved the car and cared for it well) and drove it home. I was almost in shock about half an hour later when I realized that I was driving my dream car home. Then I started to wonder about the wisdom of driving a 33 year old car for 5 hours on the highway without having it properly inspected by a real mechanic. My panic was for nothing as the car ran great the whole way home.

Funny thing is, I’d never seen another Pantera in Ottawa either, and I’ve been here 30 years too. One weekend I met someone at a car show who connected me with another local Pantera owner. I called they guy and after talking for a bit it sounded like he lived nearby. Turned out he lives three minutes from my house! Weird! There are apparently a few others here too, but they keep a low profile.

Let me know if you ever get back here, I’d love to chat!

Hey Mark,

I drive to Ottawa from Montreal every nice sunny, dry day I can find - that's about three times a year. And I'm surely not the only Pantera that's less than an hour from you. But I've never seen more than 2 Panteras at one time - not in a showroom. Must be fun living in Southern CA. Those guys are lucky! Panteras everywhere, lots of sunshine and events to go every weekend.

Nice ride David!

Yeah, mine just gets lost in the snow too!

Please let me know next time you make a run here as I'd love to get together. There are at least two other Panteras in Ottawa. An orange 74 (the one nearby) and a silver 73 (or 72) that is almost done a complete restoration. There was also a yellow 74 GTS that was for sale last summer. There may also be a red and a black one - you hear stories... How many are there in Montreal that you know of?

You used to have a white 73 also did you not? or do still? Great photo of your GTS. Obviously not taken within the last few days!!
Hey Mark,

I sure will let you know next time I come. Yes I had a 73 - Dave Adler sold it for me so I could keep spending on my '82. I miss it but see photos of it now and again being sold and bought again on this site.

I have seen a bone stock white '72 a few times on the street, a silver GT5 and few red ones - 74, 83 etc. Most came from Scotti's (as did both of mine) and I know he always has a few.

Have you ever gone to Vegas, Monterrey or any other Pantera events? I'd love to get a few cars together (there are lots in the Northeastern states) and cruise down at least once in my life - or maybe share a trailer ride and tow a few cars to the west coast.

Merry Xmas!

Hi David. Nice engine. What does that output? 150? 200HP? Ha Ha. Looks like a fire breather!

As for Vegas, I was there in the spring. We booked the trip intending to talk to other Pantera owners about ownership and what to look out for, but as noted in my previous post, the car came way sooner than I expected. I saw the cars on Fremont street, but that was about it. I'd love to be able to teleport the car there to participate, but man, thats a long drive from here...

I did a bunch of local shows and would like to try one of the larger US shows in the Northeast, but which one? Let me know if you have any thoughts. It might be nice to get a group going somewhere. Hope you're having a nice holiday!
