HI JAMI! YES! ABSOLUTELY, FROM THE ROAD TEST SPECIFICATION SHEETS OF "ROAD AND TRACK" MAGAZINE (1974 COMPARISON TEST): 1974L U.S. VERSION, CURB WEIGHT=3205 LBS., TEST WEIGHT=3540 LBS., WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION IS FRONT/REAR 41/59 . 1974GTS EUROPEAN VERSION, CURB WEIGHT=3020 LBS., TEST WEIGHT=3385 LBS., WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION IS FRONT/REAR 42/58. THE DIFFERENCE IN THE ADDED WEIGHT FOR THE L IS OFCOURSE THOSE LARGER, HEAVIER FRONT AND REAR "L" BUMPERS, SPRING SPACERS, OTHER? CURB WT., I'AM GUESSING IS: AS DELIVERED, NO FUEL, NO ACCESSORIES, ETC. TEST WT. WOULD BE WITH ALL EXTRAS, AND FULL TANK OF FUEL. REGARDS, MARLIN.
I weighed a bunch of Panteras at a tech session some time ago. Pre-L cars weighed an average of 3020 lbs, L models weighed an average of 3250 lbs, due to the big bumpers, mounts and extra frame gusset/stiffening in L cars. The distribution is roughly 60/40 and of course they all had unknown amounts of fuel in the tank & debris in the trunks. 6.8 lbs/gallon of fuel in a 22-gal tank changes things a lot, so your car may vary somewhat.
Hi guys! Marlin, figures you gave makes sense to me. Jack, 60/40 F/R -distribution ? empty tank? (tank is closer to rear axle, right?)
BD: test weight is, as I understand it, the weight of the spesific car that is provided by a dealer etc. for that particular magazine for an article.
Jami
