That thing looks like a Hi-Tec hiking boot!!

What scares me is that people will beleive that malarky about "demostrating their determination to bring more environmentally responsible technologies to the marketplace". They haven't brought it to the marketplace yet. Turn it into a production vehicle and THEN you can say that. At this point it it just a showcar with potential. We all know how many show circuit prototypes actually make it to production.

But that will never happen becuase that thing is soooo ugly that no matter how eco friendly it is even Subaru lovers wouldn't drive it!!

Wasn't that one of them vehicles they used in that movie 'Cars'?

But wait a minute is that the smell of rotting whalebone and animal skin I smell or just hype & BS for the Greenies?

130 pounds weight saving; density of plastic is about 1g/cm3, steel 8g/cm3, so they stripped out about 160 pounds of steel and replaced it with 20 pounds of plastic. A whole 20 pounds that's gonna make a huge dent in the landfill, I can tell ya!

And saving 20 gallons of juice a year; Let's see, assuming an average 15K per year it manages to achieve slightly under a whole 1 mpg better gas mileage, that's a milestone LOL....But this is positive, because see I work on the 'greenhouse gas credit system' which means I can claim someone elses 'credits' and drive my pantera a whole 280 miles further without fear of increasing World pollution. Thanks Hyundai for making it possible for people like me to keep driving a classic like the Pantera without any fear that I might actually be missing out on something from the modern age of automobiles.

Lets think about this: You take PET bottles from a dumpster and turn them into an alleged car. You use the car for a few years and you end up with PET (None Bio-degradeable) body panels and throw them in the dumpster......

Plastic panels - Have you ever looked at the paint mismatches when a Fiero has been in the sun for a while?

At least steel cars (especially Italian ones) are constantly bio-degrading (Or is that rusting?).

In the UK we have an agency called "The Carbon Trust" They advise and help businesses with reduction of their carbon footprint. These guys are allegedly the pro's.
I asked them what the carbon offset was between buying and running a new car against keeping an old car on the road. After 3 months, they couldn't/wouldn't answer. The only figures they gave was that it took about 280,000 litres of water to build a new car.

viz. Old cars are Environmentally friendly - they just don't want to admit it.

Remember the one word ..Plastics....? Look at the bumper extentions on the 80's cars. Buick Regal, The Caddilacs....They just cracked and fell apart. Plastic is not all it's cracked up to be. (pun intended) The car companies really thought they had something. dashboards, spoilers all distorted. Cheap to manufacture and mold.Plastic sucks....Well, I guess it it would be OK for a Vacuum cleaner. Big Grin
