Since photo bucket lost my pics and went silly.

I can't seem to get a pic on the forum, my pics it says are to big and are over 300 kilo tonnes or something similar.

I tried to get the lowest picture size now at 2.5M EZ ( god knows what that means)

You will have gathered that I don't take pics for NASA and am a bit of a computer Dumpling.

Where am I going wrong, or is it just TOO late.

Yes Peter, the small size limitation for photos on this forum causes more than just you discomfort and additional work.

I have found two work-arounds that function well for me on my iPhone.

If I take a screen capture of something on my phone, that file size is usually small enough for simple posting.

If a photo is too large for this forum I send it to myself in an email. Prior to sending my iPhone will prompt me to select the file size of the photo. Usually this gives an option that functions for this forum. Once I receive my own email I then save the photo and can then attach it to a forum posting.

I too am computer challenged but find my own workarounds. I'm sure others have their tips to share in this thread.

Hi
on Android is the same, take a picture send it per e- mail and you will be asked for size..make it 10% only ending up in the range on 50 k Byte.

As you could see from m last post I was alos playing sending summary of pictures via power point originals then per snipping tool capturing what I need...SW ia always a WORK ARROUND..did spend my (business) life on it Smiler

There's another way to reduce an iPhone photo (and video?) file size when sending using "Messages". It's new to iOS 11 I believe. Go to Settings/Messages. At the bottom of the options there you'll see a switch for "Low Quality Image Mode" this lowers the file size to about 150kB (depends on image complexity). Saves a lot of data charges if you text a lot of photos.

Also to know for iOS 11 is that Apple started using a new compression (HEIF) standard that reduces file sizes by about 50% with no loss of quality vs .jpg. However it can (don't know the details) cause compatiblity issues. If you go to Settings/Camera/Formats you'll se a "Most Compatible" setting that will change back to the regular .jpg. AFAIK, pictures taken with HEIF on will stay that way.
