On the subject of Facebook ...

I tried to keep my profile on Facebook low-key and personal, a way to connect with family. But I also wanted to reconnect with friends and acquaintances I've known throughout my life, so I decided to make my profile public so those from my past could find me.

I've come to realize keeping my profile available to public view and personal at the same time isn't going to happen, my personal life is so intertwined in the Pantera hobby that its hard to separate one from the other. I value my relationships with Pantera owners as highly as any others so I've embraced what's happening, its a good thing.

One of the beneficial outcomes of this, I've got a nice Pantera photo album growing at my Facebook profile. As Pantera owners become Facebook friends I've been adding a picture of their Pantera to the album and sorting them by chassis number.

This makes a great way to share our hobby with others. If any of you guys want to link-up and get your Pantera into the photo album, send me a Facebook friend request. I'll need a good pic of your Pantera and the chassis number.

George,

Why not consider having a PI facebook site for all your Pantera frieneds plus your personal one for you family etc., that way you can achieve both objectives. I know a few people whose Facebook page just got so wieldy with too many friends that they scratched and started fresh.

So far its working OK as-is. There's pluses and minuses to both approaches.

I understand the "news feed" will become busier and therefore harder to keep up with everyone. But frankly most adults don't seem to post too often, its the friends and family members in their teens and twenties that create most of the spam. On the up-side, I like the idea that I'll know when a Pantera owner is having a special occasion and will have the opportunity to wish them happiness.

I've learned something in this process however which has helped me understand the feelings of many in our community.

Merry Christmas

-G
