I HAVE THE HALL CONVERSION TO THE FRONT WITH THE NEW PUMP AND ALL THE STUFF ON MY PRE L 72.
MY QUESTION IS.... WHILE DRIVING FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES WITH THE AC ON I HEARD A SINGLE POP NOISE FROM UNDER THE DASH AND A WHITE PUFF OF SOMETHING COMING OUT OF THE AC VENTS. AC STILL WORKS. WHAT DO YOU THINK IT COULD BE? RC

I think a hose or a tube in the evaporator itself ruptured. The white smoke was oil vapor and/or freon dissapating. I can't believe your AC still works- when mine let go (at 90mph), it filled tha car with vapor and the 'pop' sounded like a rifle shot! Locating the blown spot will be difficult since it was under the dash or in the console tunnel (there are still two hoses running to/from the compressor on the engine), but somewhere there will be an oil-soaked place.
THE AC WORK FINE,GOOD AND COLD. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT ICE BUILT UP ON THE CONDENCER AND WHEN IT BROKE LOOSE MADE THE POP AND THE WHITE ICE SMOKE. IS THERE SOME KIND OF SYSTEM THAT KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING? A CYCLER OR THERMOSTAT ON OFF SENSOR.
