...Perhaps the 71 Year-Old Gentleman had a Stroke or a Coronary. If So, the 76 year old Passenger, probably had one, also. Didn't realize the end of the runway was coming up fast!? Guess the Drivers' 'Depth Perception' wasn't That Great either.

Assuming they reached top speed of 180 mph (265 f/s),
Assuming a rule of thumb for hard (not panic) braking deceleration of 15 fps/s, in that (265/15 =) 18 second stopping time, they needed about (265/2 X 18 =) 2400 feet

Wonder if a prior planning “brake point” was marked off for their run

with the runway 8300 feet, if a mile was marked of for their run, that would should have given enough for stopping
