Has anyone done a vacuum check on their cooling system to check for leaks?
If so, how long did it take to get the vacuum? I'm using a Maddox system to vacuum and been running for 40 minutes with no movement on the gauage. I did check the device and it is working. I know AC systems can take 30-45 minutes so I assume a 5-gallon cooling system should take longer.

Pretty sure there is a vacuum leak on your coolant system
I didn’t use a stopwatch, but when I used a kit very similar to your Maddox kit I don’t recall it taking longer than 10 or 15 minutes

It's a good idea to pull a vacuum in the system then let it sit for a few hours to see if you lose any vacuum. If you do, you have a leak somewhere. I've even let it sit overnight. It's better to deal with it when the system is full of air than when it's full of coolant !
If you are pulling no vacuum, then it is leaking at the tube that feeds the overflow tank. The fitting you are using is not blocking the tube off and you are never going to get anything as you are sucking on the world. block off the tube or take hose off that goes to the overflow tank and try that. It does not take hours to pull such a vacuum. it's minutes.

I replaced all the cooling tube hose clamps and tried again. It pulled 24hg within about 10 minutes or so. I should have let it hold vacuum overnight but ended up letting sit about 30mins at 24hg. I must say it made filling the cooling system very easy.
