I came across a really nice pair of stock headers/exhaust on ebay entitled "1971-76 ANSA Detomaso Pantera Exhaust header muffler." The auction description stated "You are bidding on a complete ANSA OEM exhaust system for a 1971-76 Detomaso Pantera. Headers are restored OEM headers in excellent condition (no cracks). Mufflers are ANSA OEM 1-7/8" mufflers with NEW tips" They look awesome and I decided to make a bid. After my elation wore off, I noticed that another buyer asked a question regarding the application of this to the L model and there was some concern that it wouldn't fit. The seller indicated "These muffers are pre-L model style which is a 15 degree angle upward on the tips. L model mufflers haven't been available for decades. Here we fit them and see how close the tips get to the rear bumper. Some times they clear by pushing the muffler downward with the muffler hanger and its adjustment them tighten up the donut gasket -collector. if that doesn't work we cut the tip on the weld were it meets the muffler bend it down and reweld the weld. Its not to bad of a job, just takes alittle time to do it correctly." I don't want to go cutting and welding a new/old exhaust system. Anyway, I was scolded by the seller saying that "The exhaust will fit all 71-87 Pantera's based on the specific vehicles engine & bumper configeration. Its not our responsiblity to figure that out for you. With multiple bumper configurations manufactured by Ford-Detomaso thru out the years we suggest one should spend there time on detomaso history lessons. Fit & application need to be determined by purchaser."
There were no specs posted in the auction and I want to send the seller an educated reponse to help determine if this will fit my car (a 1974L US spec completely stock..with stock bumpers, etc). Any help would be appreciated.
