rear deck lid opening

I have a 72 that I have been assembling. I have never seen this car completely together and am trying to figure out if I am missing a trim piece for the opening in the front of the rear deck lid. I cannot for the life of me find a picture of that opening close enough to see what is supposed to cover that seam. any help would be appreciated.

My '71 has a 3-piece set of aluminum moulding around it secured by tiny, tiny sheet metal screws but I get the feeling this wasn't the case in later cars.

I am familiar with the tiny screws from the rest of car. I can't believe how small some of them are. Any chance i could get a picture of what yours looks like? I appreciate the help. I don't know of any other panteras close to me. thanks again.

John,

Yours does not use the metal channel that the '71 uses. I'm not sure what the material is, but it's not metal. It's like the portion of the cabin door seal that covers the pinch weld (only smaller).

Thanks John,

I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. I have the rear deck lid at the body shop and they are waiting for me to let them know what goes there. I hope I can get someone on here with a 72 to send me a picture of what it looks like so i can try to come up with something similar.

72 did not have the metal mldgs around the opening. it should have a rubber like mldg that secures by pushing it down on the ridge. If you need that piece i have a few and there not expensive. mikedmayberry@hotmail.com

I purchased mine from Tara, Hall Pantera. She has two sizes to choose from. The smaller size worked best on my 74. You could also get it from Summit Racing if you search their website.
