I wake up early. Twentyseven years of working hard does that to you. Coffee. Write some checks to pay the usual bills. In the early hours, seal the envelopes, apply the stamps. The sun has only risen a fraction of the journey it will take into the morning sky. I take my keys from the fireplace mantle, the only two I will need, and directly walk out the front door.
Its time to fire the beast. To render noise into the calm, quiet of the mojave desert. I open the garage door, the red cat lies quiet, but not for long. The key is slipped into the switch then...a crackle of exhaust barks into the stillness!
This is a serious machine, meant for driving. I idle slowly down the street, allowing the engine to warm to its potential to make thunderous torque, power. As I turn onto a deserted hiway, I glance down to the gauges, everything looks fine... I press down on the gas pedal quickly, the beast roars and LEAPS forward as if pouncing on a helpless prey. Grab another gear, again the cat charges ahead.
Slow down.....after all...I'm only going to the post office.
Ah life in a Pantera, it doesn't get any better than this. If you havn't got one, get one. You won't be sorry.

Tim,

I agree with everyone else, your writing is very talented. I have a suggestion:

Take a picture of your car in the driveway with the sun rising in the background, send the photo plus the text of your post to Dave Adler for his consideration to print it in an upcoming issue of PI. The enthusiasm for the Pantera you express is beautiful.

Lets get together sometime.

Oh, and by the way Bill, my vote for background music for the ride is Dick Dale's "Miserlou"!
