Snakes & Planes 2010

Out of respect for our American friends and Independence Day, OUR crew kept it to red, white and blue!

Of course, being Canadian, we did over emphasize the red & white...

Maybe a bit much on the red...

We put Denis as far from the Cobras as possible, so as to avoid any unfortunate slaughters...

Our "Snowbirds" aerial acrobatic team put on an awesome show of flying.

And incredible vintage aircraft were everywhere.

And of course, our Cobra friends had an equally impressive display.

Of which this was my favorite. I really could make space for this car in my garage.

The drive home was great right up until we hit traffic downtown. Since Bohdan was driving my Pantera, I got a chance to appreciate what a great looking car it is when I followed it all the way home.

From both ends.

Following a GT40 in a GT40 was an experience I've not had before. It was incredibly hot but sure sounded great.

As the guys peeled away for home, a few of us decided to drop into our local coffee shop for a snack and a drink. David decided to park in the shade but Denis, Bohdan and I baked some more in the sun. It was a great ending to a great day, which is how any day spent driving cool cars with great friends usually ends.

Thanks for organizing this Mark. It was well worth the 6:30 am drive to Ottawa! The GT40 guys were real nice and like to roll fast too.

I had a great day today. Many surprised air show spectators did not expect to see cars there. An extremelly hot day, humidex temperature exceeded 100F. Very nice to see David, Jonathan, Andy, Bohdan and new owner Eric (without his car). As stated fellow gentleman owners of GT40s and Cobras. we got treated to Scotish marchiung band, many types of planes, rarest and very impressive Golden Hawk Sabre6 and for sure the Canadian Snowbirds.

I was referring to the video, showing how as I blasted up beside you crazy GT40 guys I was 'hoping someone would respond' by tromping on the throttle - even for a moment. But no such luck.

It must have been really difficult clutching and shifting while hanging out of the window like that! Especially while holding the camera so still!

I'd like to agree, but the miracle of suction cups was there for me.

Considering how much the car shakes and jumps around, I am surprised at how steady the video is. I think GoPro has some VR software built into the camera. Too bad it decided to focus on my filler cap and not the cars ahead. Oh well, that was the first time I have used that camera so hopefully it will improve with time and practice.
