What do you find more enjoyable or fun: working on the car/in the garage or driving/showing it?

Reason I ask is that my son and I have been working on a 68 Mustang coupe for him. I'm having such a great time working on it and seeing it come together that I find myself anxious to find another project for myself!! We have an agreement that we only work on it together but I'm sneeking out to the garage when he's not around and doing little things here and there. Dang I'm addicted!!!! Looking for my next fix!! If its this much fun now its going to be a blast to drive (I hope).

Miles,
From my experience, working on it is enjoyable, having one of your children work on it with you is far better....
Then there's the driving, which is suppose to be the payoff for all the time and work spent on it.
I think they all go hand in hand together...putting that smile on your face....
Just my 2 pennies worth.
Driving is supposed to be the more fun part, but I'm finding that not to be the case lately as there just ain't any quiet roads around here anymore.

Got another ticket today, this time for 'Show of Excessive Speed'. What sort of BS charge is that? "Sir you pulled away from that intersection fast and I saw smoke come from your tires"

And I got two cop cars, one cop just more interested in "what is it, what engine does it have and how fast does it go?" while his buddy wrote me up to the tune of $220 & 2 demerits.
Fight that ticket Julian. What do you have to lose. Did you spin the rear tires ?
Was the "show" just noise or was it really speed from being launched hard ?
Totally B/S.

I with Coz, Julian. Ask the officer if he will accept aplea bargin when you get to court. He may not even be there. It is just a "call" on his part. He has no radar or hard evidence. Is he sure it was tire shoke and not exaust. What color was the smoke.? Did you smell rubber burning? I got a ticket once and sent the officer a letter and explained that I knew driving in SC was a privilage and not a right. I asked him to plead my case with the judge and reduce the severity of my sentance. I did not even go to court and they dropped it from 4 points to 2. I did however send all the fine. Thats what they want anyway. Good luck Roll Eyes

That is complete BS! Get a lawyer at fight it.

Dare I tell you I legally did over 150mph in the M5 today? Not even a whimper from the locals. Sorry.
Hey guys, bring your cars and come and play with us here in South Africa in Oct on the SUN RUN.....25 days (or shorter)of over 30x mountain passes, fantastic roads , track -time at a couple of race tracks, no traffic or cops on the roads anywhere....a total blast...We've been running car tours like this since '92 with over 25x trouble-free, fun tours. If you dont want to bring your cars we'll find you what you want to drive out here...We've got 8x Panteras on our books and lots of other cars to rent. I like working on it, but I must be a basket case... After reinstalling my Pantera's Holley last week, yesterday I took the Motorcraft carburetor off my 1983 F250 and completely stripped and cleaned it. That's not a car, that's my yard waste hauler!

But seriously, I love driving it (the Pantera, not the truck). I could go through a tank in a day just driving around with no particular place to go.

Hmmm... I have a Honda lawn mower with a carburetor around here somewhere. Just a sec, gotta go do something...

Hey John when is that engine going in again? I though about coming down for it but its logistically overwhelming.

Spring break starts on the 21st ( I have a week and a half!). Unfortunately, my wif will be taking time off at the same time. She has house projects lined up for me and I have car projects lined up for me. I've cut back the "dream" list of things to do while the engine is out and I'm just going to focus on getting the car on the road where it belongs.

Thanks for your offer to help! You are quite the gentleman! If, on the rare occasion your plans change, I'm making homemade lasagna on the 31st to whoever shows up to help. I will hopefully have all the preliminary work done before then.

Driving. I hate working on the car because I am getting too old to get up and down off the floor all the time. I don't have a lot of tools and I am alaways worried about breaking something or fixing one thing to only cause a different problem.
I love driving it on lonely mountain roads in the spring and the fall. Back in the remote country where banjo music can still be heard lofting in the breezes. I don't enjoy car shows, but I will do them for charity, I don't like crusing because it is too much like driving in traffic, I just like being me and the road and no one else around. Yeah there is no one there to wave andgo ga-ga over the car, and most the time, that is theway I like it. I escape from the modern world and time travel to 1973, and things don't look so bad anymore. Just me and my hot black babe, making our way through the mountain pass. Wink
Definatly driving! When I do work on 1363, I try to always make sure I have everything I need to put it back together again. The thought of it not being fit to drive would worry the crap out of me. Remember I painted it in 10 days! During the winter month of Nov. There is a 2 mile straight on the 4 lane right in front of my shop. What a rush winding out every gear.....I save the shift to 5th right while I'm passing... WWWAAAAAAAA!!
