Well, I feel kinda sad today, there is a big space in my garage where my 87 Buick GN resided. We parked it a couple of years ago, and finally sold it yesterday. It was a bad ass car with a back seat. Wifey wants a newer SUV. It gets to where there is only room for so many cars. Something had to go. Maybe now she will quit picking on my "useless pantera" Her words not mine.

You guys need to help your wives understand the options:

A) spend all of your free time and money on your "useless" Pantera... instead of hanging out at bars

B) sell your "useless" Pantera and use the extra cash and time to hang out at University bars...

C) get a wife who shares your views a bit more closely...

I know from personal experience that the last option, while often the most expensive, can turn out to be very rewarding... Smiler

Good luck!
Reminds me of the golf joke.

Two golfers at a bar discussing wives attitude about golf. After the first golfer tells his story, the second golfer says, "My wife told me I had to give up golf or she was going to leave me... Damn, I'm sure gonna miss that girl!"

Seriously, though, how about the line, it's a great investment for saving for college when we have kids.

You're betting on the come with this ploy. It works because, by the time your kids get to college, you will be older and will be making more money than you were when you first used the ploy. Hence, you'll be able to pay for college and keep the car. And that's the risk.

Mark,

I agree with you .... but i got rid of the wife and then the girl friend and found a lovely lady from Brazil who enjoys Formula 1 and went to Indy alone ... her dream car is a PUMA made in brazil...not much of a machine with a VW engine but its th thought that counts. But your right its no the cheap way out since it cost me a couple dollars to get rid of the Ex but the new one is a lawyer so I ahve to be a good boy. LOL
I bought a 87 Buick GN in 1991 with 20, 500 miles on it at that time. I paid $14,500. for the car, drove it for thirteen years. At 62,500 miles I sold the car for nearly $12,000. I sold it with the intention of finding a Pantera. That dream is a reality now. I think about the GN every now and then, mid 13's and 24mpg! Yeah, I miss it...but thats the past. Now I own a different animal, and certainly every bit as entertaining. I can only afford to own one "toy" at a time, and that's ok, I feel very fortunate. I have a photo album of all my cars of the past, for proof of my fortune over the years. We can't keep anything forever except the Love and Memories of family and friends. Great cars to me, are just icing on the cake.
Bill,
Thats too bad, every generation has a car that was cool in it's time, and mine was the Buick GN. I never owened one, but I got to drive, and be passanger in several fast GN's(had a buddy that was a member of the local Buick club). A bitchen production car that went straight very quick, or sometimes very fast! lol
But as they say "this to shall pass", you owned one, but you choose the Pantera. If I do say so myself, I think you picked the right one. Cool
