What are you guys doing for plug wires, isn't a longer than normal coil wire needed to retain the coil in its stock location?

I'm using a Taylor universal set. I believe you're correct about the coil wire. I'm fairly certain the stock Clevelands had the coil mounted on the intake. I was using a set of MSD's but I didn't like the feel of the boot on the plug, couldn't tell if it had snapped on or not.
I added a set of MSD's 8.5mm when upgrading to the MSD distributor and an AL6 ignition. Very happy with teh limite duse they have had so far.
I ended up still using the previous coil wire as the MSD 351C set coil wire was way too short. I keep meaning to pick up an individual coil wire from Summit when I'm down that way.
I'll put it on my list right now while I remember. Old age is creeping up way too fast, another year is up tomorrow

Here's some info I just received from Taylor, they too produce high quality wires. This should get you a set of black, Spiro Pro 8MM wires that will work with the stock distributor cap, and have 180* plug ends. Note the length of the coil wire. Other colors available for those more colorful than I:

The part number is 73055. You will also need a crimp tool (43390 or a similar part) to install the terminals. Follow the directions in the box and you should have the set on in about 40 minutes. By the way, the coil wire for this set is 36” long so you will have plenty of wire to trim to length.

I went with a set of MSD 8.5's. The universal straight plug wire set came with both ends(female/male) and a long enough wire for the coil.
