can I replace the bulbs without removing speedo? Are the bulbs plug in or screw in for 72 pre L. What wattage for bulbs thanks

You can replace all the bulbs without removing the speedo & tach, if you're careful. Its easy to drop a bulb inside the speedo/tach cases, or disturb or unplug something else in doing this. Most of the bulbs are 2 watt 12V push-in type, and for illumination you can substitute 5 watt 12v bulbs of the same physical size. I also suggest you get a workshop manual or join a local club where there are experienced owners in your area to help, as adding big bulbs to the wrong sockets will not improve your lighting.
