Ok Im getting ready for headers.
427 windsor 550HP under 6250 RPM

I like the looks of the 180 headers and the fact that they have collectors larger than 2.5" I don't like the price much.

Is there performance benefits to the 180s with 1-3/4" tubes and 3.5" collector for my engine?
Or will the standard short headers from vendors like PIM work just as well or better for this torque monster motor?

Hi Mark:

I don't know anything about the topic but I've been told that tubes that are too large can have a detrimental effect on exhaust efficiency. I'd suggest you talk to my friend Tom Dawson at Dawson Racing Headers for an answer to your question. I had Tom custom-make the 180s for my car for about the same $$ as a pre-made set. He also did some beauties for Dennis Daley's street Pantera. Tom's number is (951) 928-0969 and his web address is http://www.dawsonracingheaders.com. His shop is in Nuevo, CA.

Who cares about the debatable performance increase from 180s? They're sooooo beautiful....

The only draw back I see with them is everytime you need to work on your car, they have to come off.
Other than that, they sure are great looking and sound great.
But are they worth the extra money really, who knows.....Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and their wallet.
