While we are on the subject I also have a question. In the electrical dept I'm real weak.

Yesterday all of a sudden after washing and cleaning the Pantera I went to start her up and it cranked slow then stopped. Charged the battery, and it started up. Sealed battery was fizzing.

After I got it started then went to run an errand and then it was dead again. Had to roll start it , so I wnet home and parked it until I have time to do some reasearch. It has one of those sealed red battery's with some sort of Gold terminals. The POS one looks like the wire at the connection is a little shabby, the AMP guage was reading abone 35 and up to 75 when I rev'd it up then back down to 10-15 at idle. I guarrantee I go out there now she's dead. Any idea's

Also the car doesnt seem to start up on the first couple cranks. I pulled the cap and rotor looks new , plugs a nice shade of light brown, wires and ignition brand new. Put Sunoco 93 in it. Timing issue ??

Cranking/dead battery issue: The battery could be internally shorted, ready for the pasture, or you may have an external path to ground. Run the car, charge the battery up real good, then shut the motor off & immediately take a voltage reading across the battery. If it's 12.6 volts or better, "probably" a path to ground. Now disconnect one of the battery leads, wait 24 hours and check the voltage again, if it's drained, toss the battery. The sizzling battery syndrome is indicative of a bad connection, clean that sucker up Ron! That may be all you need.

Slow starting: Accelerator pump could be in bad order. Probably have a carb that needs rebuilding & adjusting (like the choke adjustment). The Duraspark ignition may not be in 100% shape either, a tired ignition module, a tired coil, maybe the wire between the distributor cap & coil tower has too much resistance (its always the first wire to wear out). Too much resistance at the ignition switch dropping the voltage to your ignition. Perhaps your ignition timing is not adjusted properly. A centrifugal advance mechanism that doesn't operate smoothly or freely. A vacuum leak, a PCV valve that doesn't seal tightly.

Sorry guys for the late responce, had to work late. Funny thing I did two things saturday that I have to research. I removed the old amp for an old stereo and put a screw in the door switch for the interior lights and buzzer. Thanks for the advise I will check it tomorrow.

The accelorator pump could be it I lossened it up as per Holley specs. but the Duraspark is brand new but I will check it since I didnt install it.
