The long tube can be taken out by cutting it in half. The replacement tubes come in two pieces so they go in fairly easy. Although it takes some time. Good Luck
I replaced both of my tubes with Non-Magnetic Stainless Steel Tubes, that I was selling on this BB for awhile, and may offer again on Ebay. There is just enough room to slide the Full length tubes in, if you "clip" the bottoms of the FRONT tube mount. Yes! It takes Guts! But is far easier than removing the Engine/Trans. Greasing up the tubes will allow them to slide through the rubber grommets with-out pulling them out of the mounts. If you look at most pictures of the group 4 race cars, you will see that they have also made up a custom removable Front tube mount out of 1/4" Aluminum Plate. The IDEA is to eliminate the Two-piece tubes, just one more point of weakness and leaks. Regards, Marlin.
