Steering Rack Noise

How loud is the noise you get when the bushing fails? My noise started last Sunday after lack of use for a few months. It sounds like a marble being shook in a cigar box. It's really quite loud at slower speeds on a rougher side street. Could this be the rack?

Could be. Also check to make sure that the coolant tubes are not hitting the sway bar or the car's frame (by the radiator).
