monday night football was first experienced at the holiday inn in chambers burg PA in the 70's.

I loved it, didn't understand why the game took so long, didn't understand the plays, but the throws and catches were sometimes mesmerising in their brilliance,

Being a Pantera owner there is only one team to root for when not in the loop so to speak.

But have a good day to all the football fans over there.

I must admit that whilst working away in Saudi in the 80's some of us brits saw a bunch of Americans playing softball, naturally we took the mickey out of these lads telling them that only girls played that game and in England it was called Netball.

They challenged us to a match, which we accepted and we were soundly trashed in every respect, but made lots of mates, funny old world isn't it.

whoever wins will most likely deserve too best Pete.

Pete,

I think the English equivalent of Softball is Rounders and Netball is basically Basketball, both still only played by girls in the UK.

Real men play Rugby.... Wink

Your right Julian, it was rounders and not netball! As for real men playing rugby, there is another issue. Here we have 2 types of Rugby,

Rugby League which the ordinary working men play, and then there is Rugby union which the posh old boys from public schools play.

We have a tournament called the 6 nations just starting where they compete for a silver cup.

England
Ireland
Scotland
Wales
France
Italy

I think this gets lots of TV coverage because lots of posh TV people think its a superior game. Ordinary people call it Kick and run.

Personally I think American football is more entertaining. (But the name is a little wrong for there is not a lot of foot ball, 99.9% throwing, but amazing to watch)
