Survey for a Magazine, the PI Forum, and Online Community

Regarding the last question, I would be willing to join another Pantera forum if it had better features (whatever that may be), but that doesn't mean I would leave this one.

I should have phrased the last question better. Another forum wouldn't be an alternative suggesting you would leave this one, just whether you would be more likely to try another forum like POCA or another 3rd party forum. I would always still visit here, that is unless my membership was deleted :P

I couldn't answer the first question because it depends on the nature and quality of the quarterly magazine. As such, I could not submit the rest of my input into the survey.

I agree. If it is like POCA, then no. It would have to be a real magazine again with real articles not a pulpit.

I've never seen the POCA literature, but the previous owner gave me 7 or so issues of the PI magazine. I don't see a point in doing something similar to what POCA has if it already exists, which sounds like a newsletter by the way you guys describe it. For arguments sake, lets assume that the new Magazine would be well written articles with how-to's etc.

Some people seem to be confused as to what a P.O.C.A. membership includes. Specifically, members receive a monthly, black-and-white newsletter and a quarterly, full color magazine.

39 Respondents so far... would like to get as many as possible. If you don't put in a vote and your input, you are really doing yourself an injustice, especially if you are interested in making a magazine seem like a viable business venture in this day and age.

I REALLY miss the technical value of the PI magazines.

I think I stay with POCA only for the profiles so that I can see the technical car builds. I could care less about all the fun rally info EVERY month.....

Magazines go out of business all the time. My wife had TWO 'cancel' on her in the last two months. Mostly, from over-proliferation of the same ever thinner slices of the same pie (old house/cottages in this case).

The 'good' news to the above is that readers/subscribers flock to the more muscular sustained efforts in the same category.

If there was a REAL COMMITTMENT to 4 mags interspersed with e-newsletters, I'd be delighted.

My 'old' idea now was to simply hire someone to catalog/repackage the THOUSANDS of great articles and 'how-to' posts with updated info, details, or supporting photos and you've got a ready supply of articles for years. And years.

In that sense, content mostly done.

If you can tell 'who' voted, the 'non' voters should simultaneously have their bitching rights revoked for the outcome. Just a thought. Also a 'push' to get input from those with great ideas, opinions, and votes now. This board, as has oft been said IS the PI.

Guess we'll see how it turns out.

Well the voting and comments are completely anonymous and think its better that way if you want the truth without reprisals. We don't want people alienated for speaking their mind, but at the same time everything should be constructive. This poll is supposed to make things better. I will compile the results tonight, so if you haven't gotten your vote/word in, you better do it by this afternoon.
