Just installed a MSD 6A ignition and am having a problem getting the tach to work. Installed according to the instructions, and connected the tach output of the MSD to the tach wire with no joy. A call to MSD told me i needed a tach adapter, so i got one. The tach now works sort of. It won't read below a 1000 rpm, and will read to about 3000 rpm then drops to 0 rpm. Anouther call to MSD said that there must be a filter in the circuit that must be bypast. I couldn't find one. The only thing i found was the cicuit board in the tach housing. Has anybody had this problem, and is there an answer. Buy the way, the distributer is a stock unit with a Pertronix Igniter system. Heeeeeeeeeelp, please. Cheers Paul

Be careful- that little circuit board in the tach can IS the tachometer! To my knowlege, no one has had a particular problem with Pertronix, except the usual total failures that all electronic ignitions see. As I remember, MSD wiring can connect two ways, both of which will fire the engine but only one of which will give you all the functions. Go back and reread the intial wiring instructions for the MSD and for the tach adapter, and try Option 2. I don't personally use MSDs so I don't have the info.
