The tach sender goes to the '-' side of the coil. If I add an MSD box, will that affect the tach?? Sometimes I see posts where an MSD adapter is used, but I don't understand why.

on the MSD you will see a tach out wire. your tacho goes to that, not the coil neg.
MSD instructs you must not connect anything else to the coil. The MSD box has a tach wire (white), but that doesn't gurantee your tach will work, so you may need a tach adapter, which I think most Pantera's do require for an MSD dizzie run with an MSD box. The specific unit is dependent on the distributor you are using.
