Finally, after being unable (read: "not smart enough") to post a smaller picture that the PI Pub would actually accept, here's #07059 in it's "original" glory.

Well, if you define glory as being "largely forgotten about since 1983 and then hanging outside of a Radisson next to a rented Camry".

This is the day I picked the car up outside Detroit before my brave son and I drove it to Roush's for a little refreshing.

So far - - Clutch package, brake package, ac package, water pump, and other bits ordered, sent to Roush folks. Got my set of 10" Campys from a fellow PI member, same with the 'correct' right side mirror. (No comments on the current one, please!)

More to come as the story gets updated. Thanks to all.

The work continues.

OH, SOME FRIENDS YOU ARE! I ask NOT to be chastised for the mirrors, and now, that's all anyone can see! Eeker

If I can figure a way to 'photo shop' them away, I will. Here's a picture of me thinking "Man, I hope nobody notices the mirrors."

Hey Joules, it does seem like there was a bunch of dark green ones toward the end. I actually like this color (to each his own) so it's clear you too have EXCELLENT taste!

Thanks PI members. I promise to keep the updates coming.

MIRRORS FOR SALE : "Vitaloni Baby Baloneys" available so you too can be razzed in a public forum. The upside is you can see all the way to the state line in your rear view! (DISCLAIMER: STATE LINE MUST BE WITHIN 50 FEET. LAWSUITS ARE CLOSER THAN THEY MAY APPEAR.)

Will trade for complete Pantera tool kit. (What? I'm supposed to be fair about this?) Might accept best offer over $21.42. Offer ends after next self-esteem building session.

Glenn, I pondered long over that decision too until I came across the Vitaloni Concept V. You'll have to trust me on this one. Not too small to be useless, not too large to overpower the dimensions of the Pantera. Lightweight. Attractive shape, reminiscent of many modern sports cars. Available with flat glass OR convex glass from the maker. I purchased two with convex glass, so I'll have convex glass on the drivers side as well as the passenger side.

The car looks great, and I'm sure leaves all the other exotics in your area green with envy! Take your time and find the mirrors that suit your taste. I always look at the bigger events like Monterey or Las Vegas Fun Rally, where there are alot of Pantera's and check out what everybody else is doing. You can get all kinds of ideas! Don't worry about the current mirrors, at least you are unique!

Now THAT'S what they reminded me of! Good call on the Toyota 2000 GT.

I have purchased the 'original' Ford unit for the right side (from a PI'er) but will take a long look once I get the car back home to make sure which way I'm going on that. My goal is as 'original' as sanity (and safety) will allow.

Thanks folks.

Your mirrors aren't so bad. You could have "mouse ears" like I have!!! I kind of like the small chorme original look.[QUOTE]

I must admit, I feel much better! Big Grin

Plus, if you go with the small chromes, your car will be about 14 pounds lighter. (Sorry, I got pummelled all day yesterday; your turn!)

There is - I believe - ONE chrome side mirror on ebay right now. Not terribly uncommon. Keep us posted.

Again, thanks for being crazy brave open enough to share your photos!

I am reproducing these mirrors altho I dont have an exact cost yet. (I'm guessing about $350?) The secret is the spacer so that the mirror sits level and sits far enough out that you can see around the fenders, especially for a wide body car. Some other nice features are that they don't block off a lot of space on the window like some do; they can be painted whatever color you choose; and the parking lite/turn signals provide more lighting on the outside of the car so you will get noticed more by other traffic. I have had them on my car for two years now and they are stable and secure at speed. I used to have the Hall power mirrors and you won't believe the difference.

I have the prototype finished and am getting the spacers made. They mount with glue and by sliding an attached thin aluminum backing plate under the window molding which I will supply. Installation requires no holes altho you do have to disassemble the door to get the wiring in. You will also need to purchase a power window switch and mount it in the interior somewhere.

The mirrors are spring mounted so that they give should you have a close encounter with the garage door opening. (Don't ask me how I know. %^) )There are two different styles that I can use. They come with or without power and with or without the integrated parking/turn signal light. They can also be purchased in the faux carbon fiber look.

If you are interested, the introductory price will be $300. It will take me about 2-3 weeks to deliver the mirror.
