I have been the owner, more correctly care taker of #4134 for soon to be 22 years.
Recently I was going through some old documents I had been given by the individual who I purchased the car from back in 94. Amongst the documents were copies of microfiche pictures of the original MSO (mfg. statement of origin) and title applications.
With the help of the internet I was able to find information on the first owner. Sadly he is now deceased but was a decorated pilot during WWII. I wish I had done this search earlier and been able to have contacted him. It would have been great to have heard of his time owning it.
Where this story gets interesting was my success in finding owner number two. He is very much still alive. I was able to find a website and e-mail contact for his business. We have been corresponding for a while and he has shared a lot with me of his time with the car. He had the car while in college, was married and honeymooned with it. He was able to share with me work he had done and other information regarding the cars history. He still has the cast plaques from the valve covers which he has offered to send to me. I have been able to send him his original documents when he bought the car, and pictures of the car today. He is still very much a gearhead car guy and has expressed interest in buying it back when/if I sell it.
None of this would have been possible without the internet. So if any of you have old documents from previous owners of your car I highly recommend you do a little digging on the WWW. It was easy and no telling what you will find out about your car. Not only can you fill in your own car’s history, but you will bring back some great memories for their previous owners.
