Hi, I have a few days in the area on the line between Memphis and Atlanta. So can anybody advice me on:
1. Things to see, car/engine/tech related?
2. I have a few days for r&r, had thought about going to Pensacola/Miramar area, but it's a bit of a detour. I'm looking for pool hotels with pool bars and maybe occasional live music, where the locals go to have fun. Do I have to reach the coast? Are there lakes with tourist areas?

Thanks

Go to the Pensacola Naval Aviation Museum, and go into the Cubi Bar, and sign your name on the wall.

Also go to the Flora-Bama bar in Gulf Shores for people watching!

Pensacola used to have an Aircraft Cartier you can tour (the Lexington, IIRC), but there is also the Battleship Alabama, and a couple submarines (including a Hunley replica) you can tour.

Pensacola also has its own version of New Orleans French Quarter, but I’d rather see the stuff I described above.

The Atlanta version of Cars and Coffee is called Caffeine and Octane. It is only on the first Sunday of every month though...

If you went through Nashville instead of Birmingham...

(I have never been to this. I do not know how NASCAR related it is versus other forms of racing.)
