When trailoring a Pantera there is one caution that everyone should observe; always trailor facing forward. If you have no alternative and must trailor the car rear end first because of clearance issues when loading, you must securely tie the deck lid shut, rope or cable through latch loop tied to chassis, and mabey a rendundant backup. There are all too common disaster stories about those who have not done so, and the decklid rattles, worn latches that are not preloaded by tired pinch welting or improperly adjusted bumper-stops, the hood becomes unlatched, and then becomes form fit wrapped upside down across the roof of your car. -Just beware.
The holes in the frame is what I was told as well, and that is what I use, but if that is a gt5 type spoiler I see in your picture, the frame holes won't work unless you have a near zero degree pitch on your trailer ramp.
When I was working on the chin spoiler on mine, I cut off the tow hooks. Then I drilled a hole in the frame, welded in tube and now have a removable eye bolt:
Thanks for all the input. I used the control arms to connect a heavy strap and it seem to work OK. I love the EYE BOLT setup though. Thats what is used on my Mercedes. The car I bought is a 1974 GTS. It's being mildly restored. It had been stored of about 8 years or more and I have to drain the tank, change all fluids, belts, rubber, etc. Thanks, Wes
Comp's eyebolt can be used easier if the car is a Pantera L. Remove the rubber plug in one side of the L bumper and screw an eyebolt directly in its place. I forget the thread size now- you'll have to check. I carry the eyebolt in the Pantera toolbag.
Hi guys. I strongly advise against using frame holes. I have seen way too many antique unibody cars with the holes peeled open. My car included! Hell....my Pantera has more holes damaged than not. I have posted some pics in my build log. I always use cloth straps around the control arms at the frame mounts. My $0.02...
Comp2.... to be clear...I meant the factory frame holes, not intended to mean any custom specific solutions. Sorry I wasn't specific in my remarks. Rob
